P2: Create concept documentation or designs
My video:
I’m planning to make my music video aesthetically pleasing by including a large amount of different camera angles as well as making them dynamic, the reason why I want to make this type of music video is because it fits the conventions of other music videos I have seen.

Target audience:
From my research the largest percentage of music festival goes are in the 21-25 year old bracket, which consists of almost 20% of the audience but the 41-50 year old audience also contributes a large amount to the percentage of festival goers around 17%, and although my music video will be mainly targeting the 21-25 year old bracket I should still consider the other audience members. To appeal to my target audience I would have to figure out a few factors such as where my target audience most often listens to music which I found to be while driving their car or on their phones this is a integral part to my research since know thing allows me to advertise my product much more effectively.
Mind Map
This is my mind map with all the possible ideas for my music video.
Mood board
This is my mood-board which shows the type of theme I want to have when producing my own music video.
P3: Produce pre-production materials
While creating my risk assessment I took into consideration all my location and everything that could effect my production.
Like in my other productions I will not be spending money on this project since I am a student but I research the renting prices for all the things I would need if this was a professional production and I cam to a rough estimate of £2670 for the whole production process.
Unit 15 Storyboard by Damian Golik on Scribd
This storyboard includes shots I will include in my production but I will also most likely include a range of shots to vary them.
Actor Release Forms
These are all the actor release forms of the actors that will be present in my production, I had them sign this so that I am legally protected and so that they can't sue me for whatever reason. This is something that is always done is productions.

Recee:
When considering the locations that I will use in my production I thought of how the final product will look. That’s why I chose the studio since I can easily manipulate the lighting in there and there is also the black curtains which create a great pack drop for the theme I am going for.
The second location is not ideal since it has a different background while also having bad lighting but I needed to use that location because of the drum kit but I will have to edit the footage so that it does not stand out too much. Overall I will try my best to utilise both locations to their fullest even if they are not ideal. |
Music Research:
In the screenshot you can see the songs I considered using in my production, I found them through looking through youtube by typing in Royalty free music and these are some of the better ones I came across. In the end I picked “Happy Rock - Royalty Free Music”, the reason I chose it is because of its simplicity and the catchy tune that works well with the idea I had. |
M2: Discuss the issues and risks involved in producing the planned promo
When picking a music track that my artist was going to play I had to consider the copyright and intellectual property acts as if I didn’t consider them my production could be taken down for plagiarism so when picking a piece of music I would have to ensure that either it is a public domain piece of music so “70 years from the end of the calendar year in which the last remaining author of the work dies” then the music becomes public domain or I would have use music where the artists state that the music is royalty free in that scenario I would still have to include a link to the original in the description just incase as well as to give credit to the original creator.
Something that I would have to consider is the content for my music video as if I were to partner up with company subsidiaries like Sony Music UK, Universal Music UK and Warner Music UK who work with BBFC, Vevo and YouTube to rate all music videos and artists who are signed by the aforementioned companies subsidiaries then my video would also have to be rated so I would have to ensure that my music video is appropriate for the purpose of what my client wants. Since my production would be “distributed online and played on the channel of the local TV station during the festival” it would require a age rating.
I would also have to ensure my video is not slanderous and is not including any rude phrases or symbols, but since my music video is only instrumental I don’t have to worry as much about the rude phrases so I will have to talk to my actors about what they can and can’t do while performing, if they were to do anything that I told them not to I would re-record the shot to ensure the best quality of production.
Other considerations would include things like ensuring that I have permissions to all the locations I plan to use as if I didn’t have the permissions that could complicate things and prolong my production process, which in the industry would cost the company a lot of money. Timing wise with my whole production I would have to include some contingency time as this would allow me to get extra shots as well as redo any shots that would be necessary. I would also have to consider what equipment I will be using and making sure I know how to use it properly since any damage to the equipment would add an additional cost to the production as well as possibly leading to someone getting injured.
