P6 Identify the channels and platforms used for the new product
My application would be distributed on Google play store as well as App store as the majority of the phones around the world use either android or IOS operating system that way my product will be easy accessible which will help me with the marketing for it.
Platforms which I can use to market my product for my target audience consists largely of social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and more. The reason why picking social media is a good option nowadays is since most people find out about new product through adverts on social media while they using it on the regular basis, and also the fact that it’s easy to advertise on social media since you can easily may your own account and it does not cost anything to upload to your channel which creates free marketing. If you wanted to advertise through youtube ads it would cost between $0.10 and $0.30 per view so you would be paying $1000 - $3000 for 10,000 views for a small company that’s a lot of money so I would have to grow my follower-ship naturally. Twitter the price increase a lot more as you have a large array of different things you can pay for such as App install or re-engagement, Awareness, Video views and many more the prices vary depending on what you want to achieve the price can be as low as a few thousand or as big as $200,000 to get onto trending.
These prices would not be very realistic for my small unknown company so I would have to grow my follower-ship naturally through my content and getting word out, and I still could use some of the aforementioned methods but to a much smaller scale to help accelerate my growth.
As for through what platforms/ devices my product would be available on I think it would be best suited to mobile devices such as phones and tablets since then you can have access to it wherever and whenever which is the purpose of health and fitness apps, and making them available on other platforms would be a good idea since once I would develop the code for phones and tables it would only be a matter of scaling the website up which can be done though coding with percentages rather than pixels when coding every aspect. But the primary focus still would be phones since we use are phones on the daily and conventionally fitness and health applications are located on phones because of their easy accessibility.

P7: Create a project proposal specification document for the new product
Unit 26 Proposal by Damian Golik on Scribd
M3: Justified how new audiences can be targeted by the new product
The way my app would be distributed would be through the Google Play Store as well as the App Store since these are the biggest app providers on mobile devices with each being suited more to its respective operating system so IOS for the App store and the alternative so the Google Play Store for Windows and Android. Both of these app providers get millions of downloads per day with countless new users, this is something I want to tap into as this would allow my app to be easily found and it would gain a lot of traction with my target being SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) by making my app appear in the top 5 apps when it comes to fitness as users tend to only scroll for a bit so the higher my app is there more likely it’s to get clicked on.
In the section above P6 I mentioned my target audience of 18 - 44 years old since they do the most exercise but I will need to use a variety of methods to attract an initial audience that would spread the word to friends through word of mouth, which would be a great way of utilising the two step flow theory that I have learnt in the past, the initial advertisements for GoFit could include YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter as well as maybe using local celebrities to utilise their star power.

YouTube:
When researching the viewership on YouTube I found confronting data on which age group views it the most but all agreed that between the ages of 18-44 all together is the highest percentage since they are comprised of mostly digital natives. The way I would advertise to this audience would be through selective advertisement on videos to do with exercises or being healthy in general as that way the audience members are more likely to view my app, I could also partner up with some You Tubers like FitnessBlender, BeFit and HASfit who are all channels who produce workouts for both men and women which is what I would want on my app. The type of ad I would include on YouTube would vary from a person using the app to examples of the videos that would be available on the app and some of the features. |
Instagram:
Around 80% of the age group I’m targeting my app at (18-44) uses Instagram, I can utilise Instagram by showing the results of people who use the app with their permission or alternatively I could have some extra content on the apps Instagram since the app focuses more on the exercise part of being healthy the Instagram could include more dieting tips by showing a step by step process in short videos as well as including all the ingredients needed in the description. Facebook and Twitter |
Facebook and Twitter:
I could use Facebook and Twitter in multiple ways, one of these is utilising the banner adverts that these social media have but this would not be a cost effective method as if I wanted to reach a mass audience it would cost a lot possibly reaching millions to reach a the biggest market possible however this would not be a viable method for a starting company so the best way would be to target a local area and get engaged with the community and grow the community through interacting with them, that way the community would grow slowly but surely and more income would arrive then I could invest more into how many people to advertise to. |
|
Overall I would have to use as many methods of marketing that are cheap and effective as this way would be the fastest to grow a substantial audience for my app a key factor to my marketing strategies would be to cross promote the other media as that way I could draw in a larger audience as if someone is not interested in the community aspect of things they may prefer Instagram as it would be video based and vise versa.
