Title :
The Life Cycle State your genre: The genre I have chosen is comedy and action I have chosen does two main genres as I feel as they are the ones that suit my current idea of what I want to do. State your RT: The Runtime I have chosen for my production is 2-5 Minutes as this is a good enough time to tell the whole story as well as being short enough to not make too many mistakes Synopsis: I am planning to make a city based comedy on bikes that will include some type of panning shot at the beginning to show where the short film I will take place and then have an introduction to who the audience will think is the main character who is going to be involved in a chase scene with an undercover policeman for doing something (not sure what yet) there is a benny hill style chase scene where characters are disappearing from one side and appearing from one side to the other and bumping into each other to than the main character bike of into the sunset and seemingly evaporate into a thin air then the clip would be rewinded slowly to see an alien tractor beam taking him up and flying away then a massive text saying "TO BE CONTINUED" then OR NOT?? |
Consider your target audience:
Gender of target audience: Male 50.8% Female 49.2% This is based off research that was conducted by yougov.co.uk on who enjoys cycling as that is the main theme of the movie the reason why the gender is split almost 50-50 is because cycling is a popular way of transport as it is easy to obtain and learn. Age of target audience: 18-24 This is based off research that was conducted by yougov.co.uk on what age are people who cycle the results varied. Race/Nationality: Most likely British(East Anglia, South Coast and Northern Scotland) This is from the research on yougov.co.uk. Class/Job Type: working, lower class and middle class and the job types include Engineering, Transport and Logistics and manufacturing. Potential hobbies/Interests: Biking, Comedies, sci-fi Why your product will appeal to them: My product will appeal to them as they enjoy/ do biking as well as from the things they enjoy I found out that they like some comedy movies such as Hero 6, Paddington this will help me as it means they are not new to light comedy which will also present in my short film. |
Mindmap of ideas:
- I can include spaceships and make it so the “main” character gets abducted at the very end to make it seem like emmmm what just happened.
- I can include a sequence of the “main” character waking up and doing his daily routine and eating breakfast
- I can have the Biker be caught and end it on that
- I can have the Biker ride off into the sunset which would proceed to blow up
- I could make it so that he gets teleported back in time to like a dinosaur era or western era
- I could have it to where he gets run over by his own bike and dies then the credits roll with the title The life cycle which then flips to The Death cycle
- I could have an overly dramatic scene where the biker hits a tiny pebble and proceeds to fall down VERY DRAMATICALLY preceded by very loud moans of pain and agony
- Could make it so that he goes so fast all his clothes disappear
- I could make the biker bike off a cliff and replace the actor with a dummy or have a very small hill but make it dramatic by replacing the background with an actual cliff so it looks like he is hanging off the ledge preceded by the policeman trying to save him but does not make it and it turns out he was a small walking path under him but he did not notice so he just drops down to it and is like AHAHAHAH.
- I could have a scene where he gets shot or beaten up by a random alien or pedestrian
Incorporating visual and special effects
Tractor beam
2:15-3:50 So I want to include a tractor beam and it pulling the biker of the bike and into the spaceship as of now I do not know how I would edit it so it looks believable. After some research what I am planning to do is have the Biker on the bike in front of a green screen with lighting on him so the tractor beam looks believable with an already pre-established idea of where the spaceship would be and record that background for 10-20 seconds then combine the footage and add some filters so it looks like they are in the same place otherwise the colour difference would be noticeable. |

Fire trail
1:20-1:30 I also want to include a fire trail that the bike would leave behind to make it seem like the biker is going so fast he is leaving fire behind him I’m not sure how I would do this. After some research, I am thinking of using already existing videos of fire and layer them and add them to the image frame by frame and make that scene short so that people don’t look at the flames for too long. |
Flying saucer
CGI = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRtqbM9kBi4 Model = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErR8sWGd7HQ I want to include a spaceship in my video and I’m not too sure how to make it look good. I am thinking of attempting CGI or using a model but I'm not sure which would look better so I will go away and do some research on what would look the best but still realistic in terms of doing the actual visual effect After some research, I am thinking of just showing the belly of the ship in the main shot of it abducting the biker then have a wide shot of the ship shaking then warping away. I will do this by using the 10-20 second recording I will do for my tractor beam and shake it as the spaceship is leaving/ warping away. |

Budget sheet
My budget sheet is empty because I do not require any money as I am borrowing the equipment or I already own it this is an advantage for me as I do not have to worry about any missing parts and I can utilise the equipment I already have instead of spending extra costs to get all the equipment.
But a professional production teams budget sheet would be very different as they would have to include the cost for hiring the actors and cast as well as all the equipment, locations, travel and many more but the budget they get it huge as the people who ask them to make the movie normally have a lot of money, for example, Disney when it tells marvel entertainment to make a movie.

Risk assessment
M1 Discuss the issues and risks for the proposed multiple effects.
The skills the production team would need.
The skills the production team will require vary between everyone the camera man will need to know how to operate and manage the camera so that it does not run out of batteries so he will have to turn it off between shots if we will have to move to maximise the time we can record or brining a back up battery to help with that he will also have to mention if any shots have to be retaken as he is looking through the camera's eyes and can see if anything that should not be there is in shot. The Actors will have to have the skill to act to a believable standard so it does not seem forced or faked as this would increase the overall appeal of the video they will also have to have the skill to ride a bike which I have gone ahead and made sure of as that would be a big drawback if only found that out before recording they will also have to be responsible on the road to not endanger any of the surrounding public. Finally, me as a director I will have to supervise and also decide if we need to retake shots change any plans to get better shots and make sure everyone is doing what they are meant to this includes the actors, cameraman and any other possible crew.
Resources available to implement the solutions to your hazards
The resources that I will use to implement the solutions to the hazards of my production includes the cameraman, I am wearing a high visibility jackets so that ongoing cars can see him as us as we are not on bikes which would mean the impact of a car hitting us would be much worse other resources I will utilise is I will bring water and let the actors have breaks to prevent them doing too much continuous action as this goes for physical effort and repetitive action.
The actual costs and feasibility of your solutions
The actual costs of the production are most likely unrealistic as in almost every big production you get extra budget to give to the actors incase they are hungry or thirsty and need to buy something as well as money for travel but as I am an independent producer and I know the actors personally I don't necessarily have to bring that as I don't believe the production process will take that long another thing is big production companies such as marvel entertainment have big budgets that they have to spend on professional makeup artists to makes sure everyone is looking good as well as to rent all the equipment they may need or to buy access to any locations that they need for their productions but as I am not them I do not have such a budget.
The feasibility of my solutions I think my solutions are quite feasible as they are the standard procedures to prevent the risks I have envisioned when doing my recee there might be some things I might have missed or a better solution to the risk but as long as everyone is safe and the production gets complete It means my solutions were feasible enough to ensure the safety of my crew.
How the risks and solutions apply to the production of the piece
The risk and solutions apply to the production as we could get in trouble if we don't take the right procedures to ensure everyone's safety which could result in us not being able to record certain parts as we could be told by a police officer or a member of authority that we are not allowed as we do not have the right things to prevent any accidents that is why the solutions have to be feasible. Another thing that I would bring with me on set is my risk assessment to show to anyone who would try to prevent my production.

Permissions required to film and use effects on location or in studio
Since my production is filmed in public with a small crew permissions are not required as I am not using any special effect that my cause panic with the public such as pyrotechnics if I were to use them I would have to gain permission from the council and notify the local authority to make sure they are not called and it being a false call as that would be a waste of their time as well as ours if I were to film in a studio of a private property I would require the permission of the owners who some times may require payment to ensure the safety of the equipment or the land.
The skills the production team would need to gain these permissions
If we were to film in a privet place the skills they would require is respect for their environment as well as being responsible and not doing anything they should not like breaking thing or using things we did not gain permission to use but since we are going to be filming in the public area they just have to respect the public and don't create too much disturbance. Other skills that may be required vary depending on the place you want to record in as some studio renting companies only allow professionals with experience in as they know what to do and don't do were as newbies would not know the same things.
The process the team have gone through to gain permissions/(iv) The financial cost of permission and the time needed to gain permission
The was no process for the team to gain permission or any financial cost to get permission as it was all filmed on public property. But in professional productions, companies rent sets for a few days as well as they might train new crew or teaching them skills they may have to need before they get permission to film.
The regulations governing control of substances, hazardous substances and health even if not using these
The regulations set by the CoSHH(Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) these regulations were set in 1999 and they state that only trained staff should be able to handle hazardous substances to prevent inexperienced people from hurting themselves as well as others the requirements to handle does substances "Be provided with suitable and sufficient information, instruction and training so that they are aware of the risks to their health created by such exposure and the precautions which should be taken to minimize the risks. Receive training to a safe level in the handling of hazardous substances, procedures, the use of control measures and in emergency procedures. Staff training must include accident and defect reporting procedures. Staff issued with PPE should be trained in its use, limitations, storage, cleaning and maintenance. "
They also have 7 Main procedures: Assessment, Control Measures, Maintenance of Control Measures, Monitoring of Exposure, Health Surveillance, Provision of Information and Record Keeping
Then A significant undertaking is required to determine and record the following:
What substances are present?
What activities use, store or transport such substances?
What hazards are associated with these substances
The CoSHH have an Audit once per year which is basically a control check which includes the checking of:
All hazardous substances being used, stored or transported in school are included on the CoSHH register and have been assessed.
The CoSHH register does not contain substances that are no longer to be used, stored or transported in school.
All hazardous substances are under the day to day supervision of suitably trained staff.
The storage of the hazardous substance is safe and meets any legal requirements.
The quantity of hazardous substances held is minimized, in order that proper procedural duties can be affected.
That staff training and training records are being updated, and that so far as can be ascertained, staff are using the hazardous substances properly so that the risks are minimized.
Emergency procedures are in place and functional eg spillage kits, PPE etc.
Health surveillance is being carried out where necessary and records of exposure to hazardous substances are kept up to date where applicable.
How the producer intends to work within the scope of the risk assessment and what procedures they will follow to make sure cast and crew are safe.
As the producer I would keep my cast and crew by keeping them informed about what are the dangers as well as looking out for anything else as I will not be involved in the scenes when they are being recorded I could look out for oncoming vehicles and warn the cast about them if they are approaching as well as this I would show them the risk assessment sheet so they are aware of the possible risks when they are helping me with my production this would help as they would know what not to do and what to look out for.

D1: Evaluate the viability of the proposed use of the multiple effects
I this video I talk about risks of my production and did I consider them as well as other things like costs etc.
