P4: pitch ideas
In this video I pitch my idea to Bauer media and I received a number of questions that I will answer both in the video and in the section below.
M3: show an understanding of feedback and be able to respond to questions
Questions that I was asked:
My responses to the questions above:
I have decided after my original research that it would cost between £3 - £5 since my magazine is biannual and it would include exclusive content so that the readers got value for their money this would be even further boosted by the interactive social media. My choice in pricing was based on several factors such as how many pages my magazine has, the size of the paper, frequency of release, and also the target audience since I wanted to make my magazine affordable so that as many people from my target audience as possible could buy it while still making a profit.
I plan to integrate social media into my magazine in a few ways such as giving the audience extra content on the social media pages between the main issues to keep the audience engaged with GG magazine as well as to show some of the smaller stories that did not make it into the magazine. I would also include an element of interactivity with the choice of questions for the Q and A’s as that way people could see their own questions be asked in the interviews which would be recorded and available on YouTube while the written more condensed form would be in the magazine.
I would ensure that a variety of content is included in GG magazine by interacting with my audience to see what they would want to see included in the magazine as this way it’s my audience that is choosing what they want, as well as constantly refining the way I present my magazine to ensure it stays up to date with all the trends in the community. I would also research other technology magazine in even further detail to see if they possess any features that I could adapt into my own magazine.
I will ensure my magazine stays popular in the future by constant interacting with my audience and creating a community of people who are interested in technology and media that way I would have loyal and returning customers, as listening to your audience’s feedback is the most important to grow as a company since without them the company will not be able to grow. I will also want to include relevant stars in the technology field of world as it would interest people to find out more about them.
GG magazine is different from other technology magazines, as we are more ambitious than the rest as GG magazine wants to interview both small and big influences in the technology industry whereas magazines like Wired, PC Magazine, T3 and more focus only on the technology and don’t do interviews with larger influences. GG magazine style also differences in the cover choice since Wired goes for a single image and clean look will PC and T3 magazine both have a pacts cover, but GG magazine goes for the in between using the best of both worlds a cover that looks clean but also has information about some of the articles.
Finally how will I develop my magazine as a whole, I would develop my magazine in a few key areas such as the release frequency if my magazine became successful I would want to increase the frequency to ensure my audience are getting more new content I would maybe increase the frequency form biannually to maybe 3 or 4 times each year, as this would ensure that the magazine stays in the audience's mind as well as being spread far enough between each other to not become a disposable magazine. I would also want to have a in house team of photographers as I would want them to collect all the imagery for the magazine while the text for the magazine is being created as this would ensure that the quality of the imagery in my magazine would be of a professional standard.
- What would the price be?
- How would you back up my publication up with social media ?
- Variety of content that I would include?
- How will you ensure your magazine stays popular in the future?
- What is different about your magazine from other technology magazines?
- How will you develop your magazine?

D1: Discuss the client considerations for the creation of the product from the pitch
Some client considerations would be what type of production method I would pick, and based on how many people I think would buy my product I would most likely pick mass production as my product is biannual so it would not require a continuous product as it’s not a product that is in high demand such as everyday necessities. This is an important consideration as it could mean the difference between making a profit and completely failing. I have also researched into the other types of production to be certain of my choice such as continuous, batch and one off but after researching each I came to the conclusion that through the other production methods I would have either not enough magazines or to many when it came to continuous production. Using mass production also makes it cheaper to produce since I would be getting my money back on all the expenses of the production such as transportation and manufacture of each magazine since it’s less expensive to produce more products rather than a one off or only a batch in the long terms.
If my product were to be produced, I would have to consider my brand image and ensure that the same brand image is upheld on all platforms this includes the design as well the font size and type since this way it would be easier for people to see it’s the same company as well as making my magazine having a professional feel to it. Brand Image would be a key factor to the growth of my magazine, to ensure this part of my company worked well I would have to have a team member responsible for it, and this would most likely be my PR representative.
I would also want to have more exclusive content in my magazine this would be both in interviews as well as may be announcements of products from inventors to be able to do this I would have to increase my team so I have more reporters and researchers so I am capable of sending them out to a vast array of locations to have as much content as possible and my researchers would have to ensure all sources in the magazine are reliable, reference to each site used in notes they would provide to the editors of GG magazine as if this was not done could affect the magazine both legally and ethically since it would be miss informing it’s audience.
